WELCOME to the World of the Wigan Veterans, the elder statesmen of the Wigan Club who have devoted years to the club and the game, and still cannot give up the game we all love.
The Veterans play hard and party hard: over the last few seasons that Vets have been the fulcrum of social developments at Douglas Valley, and are still pushing the boat out with their annual Family Christmas Carol Party at the Club in December.
Any mature player is welcome to come and join us: annual membership is £40-00 at Wigan, we get together principally on Thursday evenings at the club at 6-30pm for training followed by Tick and Pass.
Below is a list of the Veterans' officers - please feel free to give us a call for more information, or better still just turn up for T&P on a Wednesday evening at 7-15pm- you will be in good company as we now run two full games with sometimes 40 players taking part!
Gerry Cooper Tribute Shirts unveiled by Vets team
The Vets unveiled the 2006-2007 Gerry Cooper tribute polos shirts at the club prior to the game against Kirky Lonsdale on Saturday September 30th. The lettering on the back spells out the big man's Christian Name, as can be seen on the picture below. Needless to say, apart from Captain Scott Buckley, none of us would cut the mustard as models.....mind you, Big Ger never fancied himself on the catwalk either.....
