On an excellent day for rugby, both sides played an open rugby game. Wigan kicked off and in the early exchanges dominated Congleton and leapt into a 10-0 lead from the Wigan backs. This prompted Congleton into some strong attacks but they where thwarted by equally strong defence from Wigan.
Half time score 10-0

The second half again saw a lot of Congleton pressure but it was Wigan who scored a further 3 tries with one being converted. 22-0
However, the Congleton side didn’t give up and they eventually scored via a very nippy scrum half from a five metre scrimmage. 22-5

As fulltime neared the Congleton pressed for a further try but in an attempt to keep the ball live in the dying seconds of the game Wigan snatched a late try to make the final score 27-5.

Both sides are to be applauded for the skill levels they showed.
