Unforeseen consequences?- Shouldn't they have been foreseen!

I think some explanation may be required about the situation we find ourselves in following yesterday's fixtures.

The 1st team beat Winnington Park; the 2nd team got beat by Leigh; the 3rd team cried off against Thornton Cleveleys and the 4th team beat Newton le Willows.
Under the old rule, as the 3rd team cried off (in spite of having sufficient players (10) to allow the game to go ahead) the 4ths would not have gained any points in spite of winning.

Now look what happens under the new Miller Homes League Rule 13 :-

As the 3rd team cried off our 2nd team are 3 points worse off; 3rd team 2 points worse off and our 4th team 6 points worse off.
Ironically, Newton le Willows, who borrowed 4 of our players were given the 3 points our 4th team would have got, for winning, as a bonus!
Whilst I feel that Miller Homes may not have fully understood the repercussions of this Rule change we are stuck with it until, at least, the next Miller Homes AGM.
If we had also called off the 4th team game the 3rd team would be 3 points better off; the 3rd team 2 points better off and the 4th 2 points better off.
Seems bizarre to me, particularly for the 2nd team, that you can be better off by depriving players (the 4ths) a game.

In future we must insist that all our teams are selected on the basis that players are available for the relevant fixture. I can't believe that if they couldn't muster a full team from "their usual crew",  or go a few players short, they couldn't have got some from the 4th.

I am a supporter of the 3rd team but I am so angry about what has happened this weekend due to their "selection" process that I feel that, if it happens again, drastic action must be taken.
